Angela’s and Dory’s

These two eateries are run with the same philosophy in mind - providing uncomplicated low impact seafood, working directly with suppliers. They are situated moments from each other in Margate Old Town and both have a changing menu depending on what is sourced from the sea that day. Sample dishes at Angela’s might include oysters, mussels, scallops, lobster and turbot. Dory’s offers similar dishes on smaller plates which are best shared at the seafood bar, along side pickled seafood and vegetables.

Bottega Caruso

Bottega Caruso is located in the heat of Margate Old Town, in a quiet almost square. It serves what is known as Rustic Italian - the kind of deceptively basic food that will have those with more traditional tastes asking what on earth is that? (True story, happened when I posted a pic once) However, for those who love to eat off the beaten track, this is a must visit when in town. It has memorably been described in the Guardian as “heroically wondrous” and is considered one of the best authentic Italian restaurants in the country. The cooking is small scale and family run, inspired by chef Simona’s Campanian cuisine, with the emphasis on exquisite tastes over fancy looks.
